Devils Peak Hike

Devil's Peak, Table Mountain (Nature Reserve), Cape Town, South Africa

Every now and then you plan a hike long in advance, and the universe smiles upon you and presents you with the perfect weather on the day, and it would be difficult to argue for a better day than we saw on Sunday for our hike up Devils Peak. We took the more adventurous and spectacular route known as Knife's Edge, which starts at Rhodes' Memorial and sneaks it's way past the King's blockhouse and up Mowbray ridge, before crossing over onto Devils Peak, wrapping around to the Table Mountain side and up to the summit. As promised, there were hairy rock-scrambles, stunning views, mild sunny weather, a slight breeze and good company. There may be better ways to spend a Sunday morning, but you'd be hard-pressed to find them!
