The rondebosch journey 2014

Picture
This year the 2nd Rondebosch Scout Troop has teamed up with the Rondebosch Journey to plan and organise a training hike for the boys' week in the Matroosberg. The Troop has booked out the Table Mountain scout hut for the following evenings, but please make sure that you know which one your son will be attending:
27th September
3rd - 8th October

The route which has been chosen is to ascend via Kasteelspoort - on the Camp's Bay side - and then descend via Nursery Ravine in the morning so as to end in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. It has been specifically chosen as one of the safer routes to ascend and descend the mountain, and is also one of the less strenuous. To get directions to the starting point and see more about the route, see our "More About the Route" page.

While they will be doing one of the less strenuous routes on the mountain, the boys still need to be well prepared for their hike. Our "Suggested Kit List" page highlights the main things that need to be taken, while our "More About the Hut" page shows what can be expected at the top. Please note that the kit list is not extensive, so boys need to use their discretion, but the most important thing is that the boys do not overpack.

If you are concerned about anything regarding the safety of the boys, please look at our "Safety" page so that you can see what we've done to ensure the safest hike possible. Finally, just in case you've missed any of the notices that have been sent out, you can find them on our "Past Notices" page. We are really looking forward to an exciting adventure for all, so please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any queries or suggestions.
